The Pierre A Taj Hotel New York

"Just visited The Pierre for a 3-night weekend and was my second time visiting this hotel. The Pierre certainly did not disappoint. Having stayed at a number of quintessential NYC luxury hotels, the Pierre has become my favorite. The location at the corner of Central Park and proximity to high end shopping, restaurants, and museums as well as the impeccable service, amenities, and ambiance makes this hotel a great alternative to the Plaza. Where the Pierre differs is the smaller, boutique feel of the property, less pomp, and a warmer, more personable experience from staff.\n\nI booked a Superior King room, which was spacious and unique with its curved wall. The room included a large fully-marble bathroom with deep tub. As I experienced during my last visit, there was also a large closet, fully stocked mini-bar and understated, elegant decor. The bed, again, provided support and was very comfortable.\n\nWhile I did not have dinner in the Perrine restaurant, I did have breakfast every morning. The menu is diverse with choices ranging from continental breakfasts to pancakes, various egg dishes, and Indian dishes. Service every morning was impeccable and food flavorful and nicely presented.\n\nThe Pierre is stately with old-world charm. Trendy is not an adjective that describes this hotel, nor should it ever. If you’re looking for ultra-modern and sterile, this hotel isn’t for you. But, if you’re looking for comfort, character, and prime location, you should definitely consider booking."

"There's no air conditioning in the hallways or elevators. There's also an elevator attendant, so that experience will teleport you back 50 years. The attendants were friendly but pretty sure most of us can handle the assignment. Beds were comfortable so that was a positive. The location is amazing. And they did a great job thinking through the bathroom experience: lots of plush towels where they need to be, plenty of hooks and shelves. But that's all I have. The rest of it is a no. Everyone working at the front desk was aloof. I went to pick up my room key in the afternoon and they were bickering with a guest, who in all fairness was being unreasonable, but they lacked the skills to listen and deescalate. Even continued to bicker with that guest as they were helping me. So not a 5-star hotel. Maybe a 3 with comfortable beds."

"We had a very nice experience at the Pierre. The staff are incredibly professional and friendly, nothing is too much trouble. The room upgrade with a view of central park was great. We also received a completely unexpected cake delivered to our room for a special occasion. I would recommend this hotel to anyone who appreciates old style NY charm and character."
