"Charming and characterful building and décor, cosy and welcoming atmosphere, felt like we were coming back home at the end of each day, soothing sounds of soft jazz on the radio in our room and the entrance, the rooms felt very clean and sharing a bathroom for 6 nights wasn’t a problem at all, amazing value for money, will definitely be staying here again for our next trip to NYC! "This place is absolutely fabulous!! An old brownstone filled with stylish accesories. Living here is like going back in time. The opened room welcomes you with jazz trickling from a few decade old radio. The neighbourhood seems to be calm and safe. Harlem may not be the cleanest surrounding in the world yet the whole city doesn't exactly shine therefore I see no issues in that department. We were coming back each evening between 10 and 12PM and never have we even thought about feeling unsafe. If there are people on the streets they're just occupied with their own business and don't notice you. It's not the scary Harlem pictured in american 80s movies.\nAll the small issues mentioned in negative opinions are true:\n1. Separate taps with cold and hot water\n2. Sheets and towels without any strong artificial scent\n3. Shower a bit tricky to adjust\n4. Creaking stairs\nDo I care about any of these issues? NO I certainly do NOT. If you're looking for a 5 star hotel with services, welcoming staff etc you won't find it here. If what you're looking for is a calm place filled with soul and charming surrounding then go for it, exerience it and you won't be dissapointed. If I ever land in NYC again that's the place I want to stay in."

"Had a lovely stay at this historical place. You can reach it easily by subway. Great grocery store is just 4 minutes away. Our room was to the garden side so it was quite and cozy. Thankful to Rene for all the help."
