"I arrived an hour before my reservation and asked about checking in early. The early check-in fee was the same price as the room itself, so I waited. I came back five minutes before my reservation time, only to be told the fee was still the same. I sat in the lobby while the receptionist ignored me for another five minutes before finally starting the check-in process.\n\nIt ended up taking over two hours to check in. Caused by Various unfortunate factors. There were hidden fees (about $50 more than expected) buried in the fine print of the contract. I recommend reading everything thoroughly. The paperwork could’ve been handled earlier to save time. It wasn’t a huge deal, but it was frustrating.\n\nThe room itself was simple, exactly like the photos. Clean, nice smelling, and with friendly notes decorating the tables. The location is great, perfect for exploring the city! I got the best sleep of my trip here."

"It was a really poor experience for the price paid -- staff were super friendly, but upon check in I was assigned a basement room which someone else was inside. After this was resolved I was moved to another basement room, there was no hot water -- and it took me 3 reception visits and 90 minutes of wasted time to get it working -- I was told the pump doesn't work well. The same happened in the morning, so I was late for my meeting. Wifi was also disappointing for a central NYC hotel, getting average 1mb -- I could barely watch YouTube buffer free. Floors were desperately in need of a deep clean, my feet were black - so many random hairs, nail clippings and dirt from previous guests.\n\nIf the rate had been 25-30% lower, I would have expected some more of these challenges -- but at this rate it's not acceptable."

"I stayed here for one night as a lay over to go to the airport (I love the lower east side and was on a budget).\n\nI WOULDNT stay here if you’re a couple or family, this place suits solo travellers or if you’re only in town for a few days.\n\nThe place has a smell of cigarettes and coffee throughout the hotel and is quite noisy, you can hear neighbours and the busy streets. That being said it’s clean, safe and beds are comfy. Staff are great!\n\nIf you’re on a budget for a few nights and don’t mind ‘roughing’ it or just need a place to sleep then I’d recommend. If you’re here with your family or partner I’d avoid personally.\n\nLocation is amazing and unlike some reviews there was hot water"
