Tempo by Hilton New York Times Square

"HOTEL LISTS QUEEN BEDS BUT ACTUALLY DOES NOT HAVE ANY, ONLY DOUBLES. For what it's worth I'm a well seasoned traveler with Honors Gold status.\n\nWhile most Manhattan hotel rooms are on the smaller side, I am not, and at 6'5 I physically do not fit in anything smaller than a queen bed. As such I am careful to book with that in mind, and indeed my reservation for my family of four at Tempo was for two queen beds. However upon entering the room, it had two doubles. Again, this is easy for me to spot but was confirmed by measuring.\n\nOK mistakes happen. I went to the front desk and explained the situation, and was told that DESPITE THE ROOMS BEING LISTED AS QUEENS THERE ARE NONE, THEY ARE JUST DOUBLES. He basically admitted that the hotel engages in false advertising, but justified this as "this isn't unusual in Manhattan hotel booking."\n\nSince they couldn't give me a bed I'd actually fit in (all the king rooms were booked), I ended up having to scramble to make last-minute alternate plans, move my family's stuff, and then take the time later to call Hilton corporate to get a refund as the hotel itself would not issue one.\n\nShame because the property looked great and all the staff I encountered were really nice. But blatantly lying to me about the room I'm paying for? One star."

"Stayed here mid-week two nights. Excellent location, excellent hotel staff. Dinner in restaurant was very, very good. Room very clean. Overlooked Times Square - perfect view. Electronic room controls were a nice touch. Although, they only occasionally worked to raise or lower drapes. Electronic was the only means to raise or lower drapes. Room was very small. King bed, small desk and bathroom. No substantive room to move otherwise. Certainly not sized for two people who need to move about. The bathroom was proportionally sized to the rest of the room, except the shower was large enough for six people. Not an exaggeration.\n\nAlthough there is so much I liked about this hotel, the size of the room for the price seems incompatible."
