"* LONG REVIEW\n\nMy family of 4 (2 adults , 2 kids) stayed at the Salisbury New York last Dec 2019 for 4 nights. We were apprehensive at first, cause of the negative reviews of cockroaches and faulty lifts. But we experienced nothing of that sort during our stay. This is a very very old hotel, but it has a great location right opposite the famous Carnegie Hall. So if you are willing to overlook the "oldness" of the hotel, which comes along with worn out (but still works fine) furniture, this is a great place to stay for sleeping a few nights. And at a very reasonable rate given the excellent location. After all, who comes to New York City to spend time in their hotel room??!\n\nWe love that there were 2 big cupboards in our room. The bathroom was also working well with hot water for showering, there were no tile or basin cracks like some reviews mentioned. Also no cockroaches!\n\nService was excellent, very friendly and professional concierge services and reception."

"This place is a 5+ for location. My family and I have stayed here many times because of the location. It is perfect. But updates are needed to keep us and others staying here. Our room had a broken chair, but that was ok, it was too filthy to sit upon. None of us took a shower for 2 days because of the dirty, nasty, broken items in the bathrooms. Ceramic tiles were broken around faucets, I don't know if we can stay here again. To end on a positive, the staff has always been wonderful with this landmark hotel. I hope the management can get it going again and remain affordable. I am certainly willing to pay a little more for basic cleanness."

"The Hotel looks nothing like the photos.\nThe refrigerator was in the middle of the door way, the paint was peeling off the wall of the bathroom and the shower barely worked. The air condition was duct taped, the heat was not adjustable and there was gum on the wall. The front desk was messy but the staff was really nice. Honestly it was the cheapest place in the city two days before Christmas and the location was great, but the hotel needs a *serious* make over."
