Flatiron Hotel

"We enjoyed our 4 night stay here. We were situated on the 8th floor, a corner room - large enough for 2 adults with luggage. The room was air conditioned. It was brightly lit with natural light from 2 large windows. The room had everything we needed, without frills or luxuries - perfectly adequate, making our stay comfortable. The room was clean and secure, with a comfortable king size bed and hot shower. There was some street noise given its location, to be expected in NYC. We were provided with earplugs and a white noise machine. The noise wasn’t a problem for us. The rooms were not serviced daily as part of the room rate - this was an additional fee. However we were able to fetch extra towels, linen, and toiletries as we needed. The staff were friendly and helpful. The hotel is located very close to Madison square park, and well located to the subway, restaurants, cafes, shopping. I would happily stay here again. Highly recommend as a well located, clean, comfortable and secure room."

"I've stayed at this Sonder multiple times and this last trip was the last time. The location in the city is great, but this Sonder suffers from noise between rooms, a lack of cleanliness, and overall poor operation.\n\nNoise\nI lived in NY for decades so the street noise doesn't bother me (it's a city, what are you going to do?), but the noise between rooms was unacceptable. Zero effort went into isolating the sound and we could hear every conversation, chair movement, snore, and toilet flush from our neighbors.\n\nCleaning\nThe absolute minimum effort went into cleaning the room and long term maintenance is not done. There was dust and an unused cotton swab under the bed, the bed lamp switches were torn from the wall, and there was accumulated dust everywhere. The safety latch on the door was broken which caused an issue later. The bathrooms were horrendous. The showers had multiple types of mold, the shower door does not close completely (water will get everywhere), and the shower fixtures are not properly attached to the ceiling.\n\nOperations\nDuring our stay we were sent an email in the middle of the night that they would be replacing the air filters in the room the next day within an eight hour window. It just so happened that my wife had just finished her shower when Sonder Engineering knocked on the door and immediately let themselves into the room. My wife — unable to use the safety latch—yelled at them to wait, but ended up having to get dressed while three men were in the room. This was COMPLETELY UNACCEPTABLE. The workers were just doing their job and were friendly, but Sonder knows when guests have checked out so they should conduct regularly scheduled maintenance at that time.\n\nI have stayed at other Sonder locations and never had an issue. Avoid this one if you can."

"Great location. Rooms were clean. Most of the reviews complained about noise but it wasn’t bothersome to me. They did offer ear plugs if needed.\n\nAppreciated the luggage storage!"
