"It was a marvellous 4 nights stay at the Sofitel Bangkok. The location was smacked at where the Sukhumvit actions were at and near to several shopping malls. Having a linked sky bridge could easily bring you from the third storey of the hotel to BTS Asok and Terminal 21 mall. Else walking on the streets is another alternative option that could bring you to BTS Asok or Nana while looking at the Sukhumvit actions and buzz.\n\nThere is also a night market near the hotel towards BTS Asok direction near Times Square, so for those interested, could visit it after dinner. We didn’t visit it though as it appeared to be more catered for tourists than a true Bangkok night market.\n\nThe room looks new and comes with tech equipment and set up, including a tablet that could do almost everything such as switching on the lights, TV and aircon etc. It even allows you to order amenities and inroom dining. There were at least 6 bottles of 500ml of bottled water provided and during the turn down service, the housekeepers would top them up so we never need to buy our own bottled water.\n\nThe in-house restaurants were great, in particular the Belga bar which serves great food and music. The breakfast restaurant was not too bad either and while food was rather limited, it’s the same with all other hotels. We liked that they have a juice bar whereby you could request for your own concoction in this hot and humid Bangkok weather. While we have planned to try out the Japanese restaurant, we couldn’t eventually as we noted from their menu that there isn’t suitable food for the kiddo. Perhaps the Japanese restaurant could consider adding some kids food such as karrage so that families with young kids have another choice of restaurants.\n\nWhat really impressed us is that everywhere we pass by within the hotel compound, we were greeted by their staff, be it the concierge, housekeepers, restaurants staff and swimming pool life guards. These greetings came even when we were just passing by with just a brief few split seconds encounter. Hotel staff demonstrated consistently the Thai hospitality.\n\nSpecial mention to the concerige team who were always quick to come over to help out whenever we need to get into a vehicle or arrived back to the hotel.\n\nIf we were to nitpick and find faults, they were 2 things that the hotel could have done better. In the inroom dining app in their tablet, there is a bug in the Caesar salad whereby there is no selection to add on the grilled chicken. This coupled with the description of the Caesar salad, gave you the impression that the grilled chicken comes along with the salad. When we called the hotline after our dinner arrived, we were told that the grilled chicken is not included and comes at an additional 60B. After spending 360B for a Caesar salad, I would think that most guests would want to part with another 60B for the grilled chicken so do fix this bug if the hotline staff didn’t report it.\n\nNext is the mailing of the tax invoice through email. I was told that they will send me the invoice through email and from other hotels, I usually receive it within the day itself. But till now (2 days later), I’ve not received it yet.\n\nThe above are just nit picks if we were to squeeze out areas that hotel could work on but the stay was definitely a five stars rating and in fact, one do the best experience I’ve had since Covid. It sets the benchmark for my next 3 nights stay at the Shang Bangkok for some riverside feel."
