Grand Hotel Amrâth Amsterdam

"An absolutely stunning hotel. The staff were fantastic. Very helpful and very quick. The beds were the most comfortable of my entire trip. The pool and spa were beautiful. The room came with a couple Cokes and waters each day which I was really grateful for.\n\nFor the Americans, yes, there is no AC. I went on August and opening a window kept my room in the high 60's at night.\n\nComplaints: breakfast buffet is priced quite high but don't worry, plenty of local spots that are delicious and half the price.\n\n(Edit) Changed the review to 4 stars from 5 due to their reply misleading and saying they have climate control. There is a thermostat on the wall but didn't do anything. Maybe a fan? Anywho, the temp is fine due to external weather."

"A grand hotel in an excellent location, close to the station in central Amsterdam. Spacious and old fashioned, with a maze of corridors. First impressions were fine, however there were some issues: If you are disabled, you have to use the side entrance, there is no doorbell, and it is permanently locked. You will need an assistant to alert the staff (located through the main entrance up a flight of steps). The booking for my mothers room was an accessible booking, and confirmed by me in person 2 days before (as I live around the corner). Upon arrival we were told the disabled room was being repaired, and she would have to stay in an alternative room (the alternative room is included in these photos). There was no room for her wheelchair, it was not possible to enter the shower, and there was a step up to the bathroom (also, the bathroom had not been been fully cleaned). A very uncomfortable experience for her first night. We could not enter the accessible room until 6pm the following day, and there was an electrical box for a curtain rail left on the desk (workers retrieved their electrical pieces the next morning). Finally, on the first night staff at the front desk said we would need to rebook the accessible room, so they cancelled our original booking. The lady then proceeded to charge us the full price for the cancellation of the first booking. It took 3 days to sort this through booking.com, who ultimately told us the hotel was wrong to make us rebook (as there was nothing wrong with the first booking). Apart from this we managed to enjoy the remainder of our holiday, but the whole time we were concerned about being double charged."

"I stayed here over the weekend with a friend and loved my time here. The rooms were massive and we had a beautiful view. The spa amenities were perfect for a weekend getaway, and we both loved how close we were to central station just ten minutes or so away. Thank you for hosting us!"
