Amsterdam Wiechmann Hotel

"I stayed at the Wiechmann Hotel while on a work trip to Amsterdam. I would absolutely go back if it is also a short trip with cabin luggage only, but not if I have a regular size suitcase.\n\nThe team at the reception was very nice at check in, check out, keeping my suitcases, etc. I liked the twin bed room that I got, facing towards the back (over the inner yard and roof tops). The bed was very confortable, the bathroom was quite correct, and I was able to open the windows to air the room which is often not possible in most modern rooms and i miss that. I also felt quite safe because the front door is locked and you need a key if you are a guest, or to ring the bell so that reception will open it for you.\n\nHaving breakfast on site was very convenient, although overall the breakfast options are quite basic. I also enjoyed the tea/coffee/hot chocolate machine and regular croissants by the lounge area.\n\nThe location is SO perfect that it would be the main reason to choose this hotel. Everything is walking distance, and the area is beautiful. The main concern as everyone else has mentioned is the stairs. The slope is very steep, and for a large part your fit would only fit if twisted to the side, not straight. I am in good shape and had a small suitcase, but if I had a large suitcase, had my parents age in their 70s, or had big feet (for example a tall man) the hotel might not even be safe, see the picture (European shoe 39).\n\nSo the hotel is a great option for fit people with small luggage and I look forward to coming back."

"Lovely staff and perfect location! I was expecting the steep stairs so there werent any surprises there. One of the lovely staff actually took my suitcase up to my room for me which was very kind. I managed perfectly fine bringing my luggage down when checking out.\nThe room was a bit warm at night as to be expected with an older building, but the aircon unit could definitely be upgraded. Some of the furnishings were looking very dated."

"Front desk service were very nice. But the hotel is dated no elevators. There were no face towels or hand towels and the bathroom has moles.\nThe spiral stairs was challenge. It was impossible to be comfortable with luggage at this hotel the rooms are very small house keeping cleans the room every 2 days. No air conditioning The room was very hot. It is a beautiful view charming look but not worth staying."
