Mitsui Garden Hotel Gotanda Tokyo

"This feels like a 2‑star hotel at best. The reception staff were sincere, but that’s where the positives end. Unlike most Japanese hotels that offer sample moisturizer, toner, cleansing lotion and toothpaste, here you get nothing. Clearly cutting costs despite a rate of over $250 USD/night. Complimentary items such as coffee are gone by 8:30 AM with no restocking, cleanliness is very average, quite dust and the toilet has a persistent smell. Couches in both the lobby and room reek, and the toilet paper quality is worse than a 1‑star inn (or a public shopping mall washroom).\nIt's a shame! Definitely not worth the price. Will i return with this overhyped high rated hotel. Definitely not."

"The real strength of this hotel is its excellent location next to Gotanda Station on the Yamanote Line. However, the hotel itself could be better. There are carpeted floors in all rooms, which is not ideal for those with dust allergies. The rooms are small, and the bathroom is prefabricated. There are no amenities provided in the rooms, which you have to pick up at reception. Upon arrival, I found hairs in the bathtub and in the shower.\nTo use the onsen, you have to bring the only towel you have from your room, leaving you with nothing to dry off with afterward. The men's onsen is beautiful, with a lovely view, but the one for women is not nearly as pleasant. The breakfast included is quite basic and of modest quality. Furthermore, it takes ages to use the lift.\n\nThe hotel isn't well soundproofed, so you can still hear trains passing from the nearby station, though it’s still possible to sleep.\n\nIn essence, this hotel could work as an option for business travelers, provided the prices are lower, but it markets itself as a luxury hotel, which it definitely is not. It's acceptable for a short stay, but I wouldn’t book it again given the many other alternatives offering better value for money."

"Great hotel. The view from the lobby (which is on the 15th floor) is breathtaking. Service was great, they clean every day and everyone is very polite. They offer luggage storage for the day you leave. Room was pretty large for a japanese hotel room. Beds were also large and extremely comfy. Theres a Lawson on the first floor which was super convienient. It's close to the train and makes getting to any major tourist attractions in Tokyo really easy."
