Manga Art Hotel Tokyo Hostel

"You check in online through facebook messenger.The rooms are smaller than other hostels and cabins I've stayed at. The height is very low. I was not able to sit upright (I'm 5'5). It gets very hot, even with the fan. I noticed my bunk smelled very fishy when I got there. Turns out it was the odour from the towel. There is no one on site to speak to if there are any issues. Luckily, I was only staying for one night. Very disappointing experience overall."

"I stayed here for a night last Summer. Booked online at a discounted price.\nI was confused at first searching for the entrance. A guy at the restaurant showed the elevator. Checking-in uses a voice and screen just outside the entrance.\n\nThis is a great place to stay for a female solo traveler like me. I met few gals here from other countries and had fun chatting with them.\nThe shower might be a little narrow if you are big built. No problem for me.\nI will stay here again if I'll have a chance."

"Minimalist, clean, and a solid manga selection for both English and Japanese speakers. I really enjoyed the variety. There was always a series to suit whatever I was in the mood for over the course of my stay. As an introvert, I also appreciate the minimal interaction with staff and other guests.\n\nThe fans in each pod help a ton, and the size is comfortable. I am 5' 7" (170cm) and had no issues. Having low cost and/or free amenities is a bonus too.\n\nTwo concerns:\n1. I was placed in the bunk nearest the entrance. While I'm a heavy sleeper so the noise from the door and foot traffic didn't bother me, the table where people eat was also directly outside my bunk. Inhaling the stench of other people's foods while trying to fall asleep made me feel a little nauseous. If you plan to stay her, PLEASE dine outside the main lodging room (maybe at the tables in the 7-11 across the street?) for the sake of other guests 🥺\n\n2. While there are a few train stations close by, the nearest large stations are more of a hike than one would expect from lodgings in Tokyo. This isn't a huge deal if you use luggage transport services, but something to note if you plan on exploring / doing tourist things"
