Belken Hotel Kanda

"Not recommended if you're sensitive to noise, a light sleeper, or like to sleep in. The soundproofing is very poor — you can hear all kinds of noises all day long, making it hard to get proper rest.\n\nRooms are basic Japanese-style single rooms. The layout of each floor is a square surrounding the elevators and hallway. You can hear everything: doors opening and closing, people using the elevator, conversations — even at night. The door slams are especially loud and can wake you up from sleep.\n\nFootsteps from upstairs or next door are loud, but even worse is the morning cleaning. Vacuuming starts at 8:30 AM — impossible to ignore. My room was next to the staff room, so people were constantly coming in and out, chatting occasionally. It was extremely hard to rest. Avoid Room 15 on each floor if you can.\n\nAlso, there's a major road just behind a small building next to the hotel. Even with windows shut, you can hear loud cars and motorbikes at night — typical Tokyo street racing noises. It goes on all night.\n\nOther guests coming and going at all hours also add to the noise.\nI couldn’t sleep until after 1 AM and got woken up again around 7 AM both days. Among all my trips to Japan, this was one of the worst hotel experiences.\n\nLocation is okay. It’s not far from Akihabara, convenient if you're heading toward Ikebukuro or going to a concert at Budokan. But it’s a bit of a walk to the nearest JR station.\n\nStaff are average — not rude, but nothing special. Overall, if you value peace and sleep quality, do not choose this hotel. And if the price is high, it’s really not worth it."

"We stayed here for 6 nights and had a wonderful experience. The staff were friendly and accommodating. The place was clean and well-maintained. They also provided some basic toiletries and drinking water, plus free coffee which was a nice touch. Although breakfast wasn’t included, it wasn’t a problem since there’s a 7-Eleven just outside. The location is also great — very close to the subway station, which made it easy for us to travel around Tokyo. If given the chance, we’d definitely stay here again. Overall, a very pleasant experience!"

"We stayed at this hotel for 6 nights and it was absolutely perfect. It's equidistant from almost all the attractions/neighborhoods you can visit in Tokyo. The area is super quiet. We always slept really well. The staff was really nice. We recommend it 100%."
