Hotel La Place Roma

"For what we paid, we could have had a more convenient and quiet location. The bell across the street at the church was one of the longest chimes I’ve ever heard. It’s also frequent enough for it to lose its charm quickly. I would not recommend this hotel if you have mobility issues. You are dependent on a tiny, slow elevator to enter the hotel. Finding it was also an issue, as they have poor signage. The location in relation to the city is great. The breakfast that came with our stay in the cafe below was great. There were things to like about it, but I wouldn’t stay there again."

"I have to agree with others as to not understanding how this hotel has so many great reviews. The rooms are small, the bathroom could have been cleaner, and the sink splashes all over as seen in my pic. The hair dryer didn’t work, kept shutting off. They gave me one that should work better, and it did, but then asked for it back to give to another guest who was having the same problem. I wash and dry my hair every day, so this was a great concern for me. Thankfully they gave it back the next morning. So, make sure you have a hair dryer and converter that works if you dry your hair. We emailed pics to the hotel before our trip to ensure the converter was correct, they said it was, when we arrived it was not the right one. Front desk was friendly until after the whole hair dryer incident. We didn’t fine them very helpful with directions. The locations is good, but the church bells from right across the street are extremely long, and become very annoying. It was thankfully quiet at night, and the bed was comfortable. If we return to Rome, we will not be staying here again."

"Disappointing Experience Despite High Rating\n\nI was quite puzzled by the high rating this place received, as my experience was far from satisfactory. Here are the main issues I encountered during my stay:\n\n1. Initial Room Assignment: We were given a room right next to the entrance door. It was incredibly loud, and we could hear everything happening outside. The room was tiny, had no natural light, and the so-called "balcony/garden" at the back of the building was unpleasant due to the strong smell from the restaurant's extractor fan.\n\n2. Room Change: We requested to move to a better room because the first one was unacceptable. We had to wait for availability as there are only about 8 rooms in total. To our dismay, we were asked to pay extra for the new room. Although they claimed it was a discounted rate, it felt unfair since the first room was in such poor condition.\n\nOn a positive note, the staff was very nice and the location is really good.\n\nOverall, my stay was quite disappointing, and I would not recommend this hotel based on my experience, very pricy in compare to what you're getting. The management should address these issues to meet the expectations set by their high rating."
